Corn on the Cobb!!

It's that time of year again when corn on the cobb is available and delicious! Mom and Dad brought us some Glasscocks corn, which is one of our favorites. The boys have a lot of fun helping me peel the corn. They are getting really good at it and even manage to get most of the corn silk off. Isaac keeps asking me why it has hair on it!!

Visit from Great Grandma

My grandma and her husband Sylvan are in town this week, staying with my parents. They have been making the rounds to see all of the grandkids. Today they came up for lunch to see us. The boys had fun doing puzzles, playing on the swingset, eating, and reading. It was a short visit but very sweet!

Brookfield Zoo

We ventured out in the heat this morning and went to the zoo. We had received a gift certificate at Christmas and wanted to use it before I got too close to baby's arrival. When I saw the doctor yesterday, he wasn't too thrilled about me being out in the heat. We decided to go first thing so we wouldn't be in the heat of the day. I also was good about drinking lots of water, which led to many bathroom breaks :) We left shortly after lunch when things were really starting to heat up. The boys had a ton of fun seeing all the different animals so we were very glad we went.

Brotherly Love

Isaac and Levi love to go up and down the driveway with their train and shopping cart. Levi is a little more excited about the "uphill" climb. Somehow, Isaac convinced Levi to push him up the driveway. I was pretty impressed with Levi's strength. He did it several times. Hopefully it wore him out so he'll sleep good tonight!

Family Day

We had a very relaxing family day on Saturday. Since the weather was warm, we decided to fill up our little pool and let the boys play in it. They had fun going down the slide and splashing in the water. They didn't seem to mind the freezing cold temperature of the water! Isaac has been helping us with the gardening. He likes to water the tomatoes and squash for us and also the raspberries. Hopefully we'll be getting some to pick soon!
In the afternoon, we went over to Taste of Grayslake. They had good food to sample and lots of fun rides for the boys. The prices were actually pretty reasonable too. We started off with a train ride and half way through, the train ran out of gas! The boys had fun waiting for it to get filled up and it extended the ride a little longer. Dan was able to enjoy a few of the rides for free too since he went along with the boys. They didn't have an age or height limit so if the kids wanted their parents to come with them, they were allowed :) We didn't make it to fireworks, as the boys were too tired. Maybe next year...

Jay visits

My nephew Jay came to stay with us for a day and night. Carrie was scheduled to work this week in the city and John was going to meet them afterwards for a Cubs game. I told them I would watch Jay since my parents were out of town. I picked Jay up on Wednesday morning and he spent the day with us. Isaac and Levi had fun hanging out with their cousin. We played outside on the driveway and they had fun driving their truck/train/shopping cart up and down the driveway. In the afternoon, we moved to the backyard where it was a little cooler and played on the playgym. Jay enjoyed going down the slide and throwing golf balls down the slide. Isaac and Levi had fun sharing their toys with Jay. Jay spent the night and did really well in his new environment. Carrie came and picked him up on Thursday morning.
