Cancun 2010

We had a great trip to Cancun last week. We were able to stay with my parents at their time share at Royal Caribbean. We left Tuesday morning (3/30)...it was the first time we actually had to wake the boys up :) They weren't too happy with us but once we got going, they ended up doing OK. Our flights went well and we actually arrived in Cancun ahead of schedule. We surprised Mom and Dad in the lobby when we showed up an hour earlier than expected!!

The boys LOVED the beach. It was a huge sandbox for them. They had fun digging, knocking down "sand castles", and looking for sea shells. I guess Cancun spent $70 million this past year restoring the beaches after the hurricane several years ago. It was gorgeous. We were finding lots of beautiful shells because they had brought in sand from the ocean floor. One family ended up giving us 6 huge shells they had found because they had too many (over 30)!! That was a treat for us. The boys also loved running in the water and then letting the waves chase them out. Daddy was great at keeping up with them :)

The pool was a big hit too. It was nice that they had a kid pool that was only 2 feet deep. Both boys were able to walk around in the water which was nice. Levi had no fear and would slip sometimes and go under water. He would come back up, wipe off his eyes, and keep going. It didn't seem to bother him a bit. Isaac liked the water too but was a little more cautious :) They both enjoyed jumping off the stairs into the pool.

We enjoyed going out in the evenings to different restaurants with my parents and one night, Dan and I got to go out by ourselves! After the boys went to bed in the evenings, we relaxed by reading or playing cards.

Since we were there Tues-Wed, we overlapped a few days when my two aunts and uncles came down on Saturday. It was fun seeing them. We were able to go swimming with them one day and have lunch and then our last night we had dinner with them.

Our flight back was LOOOOOOOOOOOONG. We had a layover in Houston. We actually did really well in the morning. We got to Houston about 20 minutes ahead of schedule and made it through immigration and customs with no problem. We stopped and had lunch at the food court then went to find out gate. When we got there, we found out our flight had been delayed a little over an hour. Well, that ended up turning into 2&1/2 hours so we were at the Houston airport for over 6 hours. The boys did pretty well, considering the circumstances. Dan was able to get Levi to take a good nap by walking him around in the stroller. Isaac slept a little bit but was much more interested in his surroundings! On the flight back, we let Isaac watch a movie but Levi was very antsy and didn't want to sit still. We were exhausted just from trying to keep him in our seats! At the end of the flight, as we were starting to descend, Isaac told us he had to go to the bathroom. After telling him that we had to wait until we landed, he informed us he didn't feel very good. The next thing I knew, he was throwing up! Fortunately, I was able to catch most of it in the bag they provide. I'm sure the flight crew wasn't too excited about having to change out a seat when the flight was already extremely delayed! What can you do :) One we got off the plane, things went smoothly and the boys fell asleep on the way home. It was a wonderful trip but always good to be home!!

Arriving at the Royal Caribbean in Cancun!

Brotherly love :)

The beautiful view from our room.

Levi and Isaac throwing sand into the water.

Levi climbing the sand hills.
Isaac on the sand hill in front of the resort.

We brought some splash balls and the boys had fun
throwing those in the water. They also loved the
diving rings.

Isaac and his kick board.

Gotta love that face!!

Isaac hanging out on the stairs.
We were all able to try coconut milk. It was pretty good.
Hanging out at the beach.
Levi loved his little rake and took it with him everywhere!!
In awe of God's beautiful creation!!
Dan would dig big holes in the sand in a spot where
the waves would come up to it once in a while. Levi
loved going in the hole when there was water in it!
Wouldn't it be nice to have a playground at the beach
all the time?!

Dan and Dad took Isaac out kayaaking. Isaac did
a really good job and made it all the way out to the
mangroves.
Levi went for a short ride too!
Sunset at Captain's Cove.

We celebrated Mom's birthday while we were there.
Dan and I went out to Puerto Madero, a seafood
restaurant on our date night.
Dinner at Hacienda Sisal...yummy Mexcian food!
Hanging out at Royal Sands resort, waiting for the
shuttle bus.

Easter Sunday - Christ is Risen!!
We went out to dinner at Dolce...Mente Pompei,
an Italian restaurant on the ocean. It was delicious
food and a wonderful view!

Uncle Joe, Dave, Aunt Sharon, and Aunt Ree...
lunch at Royal Sands, the resort they were staying at.

We had a Mexcian buffet at La Palapa and afterwards,
they had a Mexican show.

Airplane ride on the way home.

When asked what his favorite thing was about Cancun,
Isaac responded "Coloring!" Go figure :)

Great pictures! Looks like you guys had a very fun time (except for the flight back... I HATE layovers with kids!) It'll make good memories.
