Summer with Dan's family
Dan's brother Jim and family came up from Alabama. They like to go up to Dan's parents' camper at Long Lake each summer. On their way, they stopped to see us. It was the first time they had met Elise. We enjoyed having some time with them here before the whole family got together up at the lake.
We left on Tuesday morning to go up to the lake. We stayed in a pop-up camper close to Dan's parents' camper. The kids did well sleeping in it. Thankfully there was electricity so we were able to have fans to drown out the noise and the weather got fairly cool at night which was great for sleeping. Since I was still nursing Elise, we thought it would be best for me to sleep with Isaac on one side (he's a more sound sleeper) and Dan with Levi on the other. After a couple nights, we thought we would try having both boys sleep on one side since they were doing so well. They weren't too excited about the plan and when Dan came in to try to talk with them, the camper started to tip! I watched Elise roll from one side of her pack 'n play to the other and one of the cabinets in the camper came open and the pots and pans fell out! Thankfully Dan realized what was happening and jumped to the other side to counter-balance the camper! God was definitely watching out for us, as we were parked on a hill. I guess when they had put up the camper for us, they had forgotten to put the braces down. Oops! Once we realized everything was OK, we all started laughing. It was pretty funny.
We had a great week of fishing, boating, water skiing, tubing, and swimming. The boys enjoyed seeing all of their cousins, especially Naomi! Elise had her first taste of cake...zucchini cake with cream cheese frosting. We celebrated her 1st birthday while we were there. She also took 3 steps which was pretty exciting. Uncle Jim was trying to coax her with the oinking orange pig. It was great having everyone there at the same time.
