Dan hit the big 4-o this year!! We had a fun week celebrating his birthday. On Sunday night at youth group, I brought in some cake to share with the students. One of the adult leaders knew about his birthday and had organized a surprise for Dan. Each of the small groups bought 40 of something for Dan and they presented it to him that night. He received a lot of stuff, including 40 cans of Coke, 40 cans of Mt. Dew, 40 bottles of Sierra Mist, 40 bags of peanut butter M&Ms, 40 mini Snicker bars. One group filled up balloons and put in 40 $1 bills. Another group gave him a pack of 36 baby diapers and filled in the rest with 4 adult diapers to make 40! One of the groups made a list of 40 things they liked about Dan. He also received a couple Packer T-shirts so that was fun, especially with all the Bears fans here!! It was a very special night for him.
One of the groups gave Dan a Vikings Favre jersey! They converted the 4 to a 40! Just what Dan wanted :) Very funny!!
On Dan's actual birthday, the kids and I took Dan out to Chili's for dinner. Afterwards, Dan had to find the 40 presents that the boys hid around the house. Isaac and Levi had a lot of fun hiding the presents and then showing Daddy where they were! We celebrated at the end with an ice cream cake.
My parents came down for the weekend to celebrate and watch the kids for us. I had bought Dan Blue Man tickets. Three other couples from our small group also joined us for the show on Saturday. We had a lot of fun going to the show and then eating dinner afterwards at El Nuevo Mexicano. I am still waiting to get the rest of the pictures of Blue Man but these were the ones from my camera.
